About this team

As the Localization Director, International, you lead, innovate and operationalize lululemon’s strategic localization program.  Working with other localization leaders and cross-functional teams within the company, create the vision for the program and deliver to the needs of each department.    Following a data-driven approach, you propose changes in processes, workflows, and standards as they relate to continuous improvement of localization around the world.

You drive and support your team to break old industry standards and practices in order to effectively create high-quality content, including audio, video, digital and print assets to support global initiatives across lululemon’s international market; Mainland China, Asia Pacific and EMEA. 

A day in the life:

·       Define, build and lead lululemon’s localization vision and strategy, for existing and new markets

·       Develop Localization playbook including metrics across various business units

·       Oversee all in-market localization strategies, requirements & initiatives that deliver a great user experience on non-English points of interaction

·       Spearhead and develop internal localization competence and scalable processes

·       Define, lead & build our vendor selection and management strategy, including establishing and leveraging quality and capacity metrics to optimize performance

·       Create and establish upstream innovation with cost and speed as key KPIs

·       Manage yearly global operating budget and establish funding model for enterprise

·       Manage, lead and develop multi-level in-market managers and teams.

·       Guide cross functional partners to ensure localization standards and methodologies

·       Collaborate with teams across the company to align business goals and strategy with localization requirements, including prioritization

·       Define and build (and socialize) annual cross functional roadmaps that capture localization work across the enterprise

·       In partnership with the international teams, establish tone of voice across operating languages and guest facing touchpoints

·       Identify technology/process/tool improvements and efficiency opportunities and drive implementation with the relevant vendor and/or lululemon teams

·       Guide local teams to establish, implement and manage language quality measures and best practices

·       Work with the international tech team to support tech releases, vendor testing and language asset maintenance workstreams

·       Work with Communications team to support language and translation on internal communications, including summits, webinars and townhalls

·       Work with in market teams to build a strong network of in-market subtitle and dubbing studios and varied voice talent

·       Drive awareness of localization best practices across the wider business


·       12+ years broad localization experience in marketing, retail, entertainment or similar industry

·       Proven track record of managing remotely across the globe

·       Excellent understanding of the language translation process, technology and trends

·       Knowledge of localization industry tools and standards

·       Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and delivering complex localization projects for multiple teams

·       Ability to work with cross-functional teams

·       Results-oriented, takes initiative, shows a sense of urgency

·       Excellent communication, written and verbal, skills, at all levels of an organization

·       Fluency in one or more non-English languages and familiarity with multiple languages is a strong advantage
