a day in the life

We are looking for someone with a willingness to dive into exciting work. The Compliance Manager, Employment will help address compliance issues across a broad spectrum of global employment matters. You will help develop and maintain programs to support our global employment compliance goals. You will work to define and prioritize employment compliance requirements across a range of stakeholders and cross functional partners in order to bring these capabilities to life.  This opportunity requires employment legal practitioner skills, including research, drafting, and counseling, practiced in a corporate setting where developing rapport with fellow employees is essential. Other projects and responsibilities will provide opportunities to contribute in different ways.

  • Review and monitor law developments pertaining to employment compliance.
  • Help counsel the business with respect to applicable legal matters and address potential impact and risk to the company
  • Define global employment compliance requirements, make sure they are complete, consistent and implemented.  
  • Develop and maintain company-wide guidelines and practices on applicable legal matters.
  • Be the reliable source of employment compliance requirements for cross functional teams, especially People & Culture. 
  • Define clear program governance to ensure strong partnership & co-creation


qualifications  

  • Legal degree or diploma such as an J.D. or L.L.B. from an accredited institution
  • Admission into the bar of practice, or the ability to register as in-house counsel is an asset
  • 3+ years of relevant legal experience (prior in-house experience preferred).
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Good judgment with an understanding of when to ask for guidance or input.
