about this team
The Initiatives team within Store Development, supports the intake, budgeting, tracking, communication, execution, and reconciliation of all initiative & reinvestment requests that require construction support in brick & mortar spaces. The team delivers against the annual capital plan to support the existing store fleet through minor works, initiatives, reinvestment requests, and rollouts -- occasionally supporting on new concept rollouts into new store openings and optimizations of mainline stores.
job mandate
This role will be responsible for the timely execution of the entire initiative channel and is accountable to the objectives and priorities guided by the AOP. The Manager of this role will support on the development of requests on the intake lists to ensure accurate scope is budgeted and brought through to approvals. They will work with the Project Specialists on the team to drive vendors and cross-functional partners in their work to complete scope within the fiscal year to meet AOP targets.
This role will also work closely with the Senior Manager of Construction Services, the Senior Manager of NA Construction, and cross functional partners in Facilities, Innovations, VM, and Design to introduce new concepts or change existing scope as required. They will be responsible for identifying, on-boarding and partnering with new/existing vendors on pilot stores prior to rolling out in the mainline channel.
a day in the life: what you’ll do
- Manage strategic initiative channel including rollout programs, minor works, small scale capital construction/reinvestment projects through development while tracking key milestones and staying within the financial plan
- Lead and Manage a group of Direct Reports to drive their growth and professional development and support their work to deliver on projects within their portfolio.
- Support with strategic initiative portfolio planning, prioritization, and development by provide cost and schedule impacts to all intake items on the reinvestment intake list
- Maintain strong relationships with cross functional partners to consistently develop and evolve processes, and to ensure that new standards and processes are understood and incorporated into the execution of projects
- Lead estimating, including management of external resources, to acquire senior leadership approvals, and collaborate with analytics team on reporting requirements
qualifications
- Minimum 4 year college level degree
- 5 years of project management within retail and/or commercial development
- Demonstration ability to lead large and small-scale construction & rollout projects independently
