ABOUT THIS TEAM

The Global Engineering department unites a global supply chain collective rooted in strategic vision and tactical excellence that delivers unsurpassed value to our internal partners, guests and shareholders. 

 The Director Engineering, MHE & Automation is a critical position that drives implementation and expansion of throughput capabilities of our fulfillment centers by delivering our Distribution Automation Strategy. The position serves as the functional expert leading the Global Engineering MHE & Automation teams in automation, material handling equipment, facility layout and design. In partnership with fulfillment leadership, the Director defines and implements the strategy for deployment, standardization, and optimization of fulfillment processes throughout the Global Distribution network, including 3PL partners.


A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Develop and deliver multi-year strategies to drive improvements across the network, focused on distribution center and fulfillment network 
  • Create a motivational and supportive environment in which employees are challenged, coached, trained, and provided with career opportunities 
  • Conducts internal and external benchmarking, working with internal customers, research and development efforts into future technologies and performance 
  • Develop and sustain strong, collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders, including DC Directors, Tech, Fulfillment Leadership, Stores and Allocation/Planning 
  • Build and execute strategy of distribution center material handling engineering and automation, including facility development whether internal or 3PL

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline; Master's degree preferred in equivalent field of study 
  • 5+ years of direct supervision leading an Engineering team; 
  • 10+ years Engineering experience Material Handling Equipment, Facilities Maintenance in a Fulfillment Center environment and Supply Chain Operations 
  • A proven executive with leadership and ability to achieve aggressive company goals and highest standards; 
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to set a vision and strategy, manage change, develop, mentor and coach personnel, including experience with cross-functional teams and managing multiple talent in multiple locations; 
  • Strong communications skills with other internal team members, including ability to present to middle and senior management to drive decision
