Our Outerwear Design team is a tight collective of curious, future-focused creatives who blend technical thinking with a strong sense of style. We stay close to what’s happening in active, lifestyle, and global fashion trends, and we translate those insights into product that supports our guests in Run, Train, and Yoga. a day in the life:

As an Outerwear Designer at lululemon, you help bring world-class technical outerwear to life. In partnership with your Design Manager and cross-functional teams, you support the design and development process from concept through to production. You bring a growing foundation in outerwear design, a strong eye for detail, a deep understanding of global trends, and a passion for creating product that balances function, innovation, and beauty.

what you do:

  • Support the design of outerwear across rain, snow, and performance by drawing on your developing knowledge of materials, construction, and end-use needs.
  • Bring together trend insights, market research, product usage, and team collaboration to help create thoughtful, functional designs.
  • Translate relevant fashion and streetwear influences into the lululemon aesthetic with clarity and intention.
  • Manage a focused assortment of styles that align with your level and the category’s complexity.
  • Participate in fittings and work closely with the in-house workshop to bring ideas to life through mockups and prototypes.
  • Communicate across product development, fit, raw materials, colour, merchandising, sourcing, and design operations to keep partners aligned and informed.
  • Maintain sharp attention to detail in sketches, tech packs, and the overall design process to support product excellence.
  • Join key meetings, learn from marketplace feedback, and help action insights into future product improvements.
  • Stay connected with relevant mills, trims suppliers, and vendors to understand new technologies and materials.

qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of apparel design experience, with exposure to technical or outerwear categories preferred.
  • Strong sketching and CAD skills and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Interest in 3D design tools and emerging technologies such as generative AI.
  • Experience working within global development calendars and partnering with offshore factories.
  • Commitment to creating inclusive product and contributing to an inclusive team culture.

compensation and benefits package 

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $104,000 - $120,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and equity offerings, subject to program eligibility requirements.
