About this team

Based at the Store Support Centre in Japan, the Manager for Retail Operations is an extension of our store teams with vast knowledge in retail; simply put, the Retail Operations Manager is responsible for making the complex simple through the extension of the efficiencies in their reporting departments. 

 

The Retail Operations Manager is a people leader first, they are a wizard at getting things done through others.  The Retail Operations department knows a little bit about everything and a lot about most things within lululemon. The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for leading these teams of experts, your primary objective will be to inspire, lead and drive your team to solutions that deliver a greater result for our stores. 


  • Retail Operations: is the engine of the business that guides efficiencies, solutions and priorities in the right direction for the business.
  • Openings & Optimizations: responsible for coordination of opening our new stores and optimizing/renovating existing stores within our fleet. 


A day in the life 
  • You are a manager within a large and complex organization which means providing coaching, feedback and support to functional leads, retail partners and the country manager. 
  • You are always thinking 1-2 years out around how the efficiency within the business can be increased and working on the foundations in the moment to get us there.
  • Your scope of responsibility touches a lot of the business and your deep understanding of both retail and lululemon helps you drive solutions and ideas which supports us to be “best in the world” in guest experience. 
  • You are the eyes and ears for the retail team, they rely on you, get coaching and support from you, and you know what they need before they need it.
  • You are the air traffic controller for the business with a strong presence within the leadership team offering guidance around when strategic initiatives/projects should occur in the business 
  • You are strong conduit between your counterparts in APAC and North America
  • You are a confident public speaker presenting to senior executives around requests and recommendations 
  • You are accountable for managing large and complex budgets which requires you to have a strong financial acumen  
  • Your strength is in prioritization, understanding how and when to manage multiple tasks. This skill is passed on to your direct reports strengthening their expertise in their own prioritization. 
  • Your team develops and executes programs/new initiative rollout and communication strategies
  • Your team facilitates, follows up, supports and gather feedback on various rollouts/programs.
  • Accountable for delivering urgent solutions when issues impact store operations to ensure stores maintain profitability


Qualifications:
  • You have been a high performing multisite regional/state manager in a successful retail company or operations manager in a multi-site international environment. 
  • You have a specialty in project management and have proven delivery of successful outcomes across functional departments at a national level
  • Applicable post-secondary education
  • You can organize, set priorities, and manage multiple projects on tight deadlines, and provide previous examples of project management in a large-scale organization(s) across multiple countries
  • You can clearly and deeply connect our global priorities with local priorities synthesizing the two making relevant decisions and recommendations for the business
  • We can count on you to operate in possibility whilst articulating the clear dependencies in order to reach the common goal(s)
  • Passionate about the lululemon retail floor, guest experience and product placement and sell through
  • You must love guest interaction, experience and the retail platform and be an innovative thinker
  • Integrity – Do what they say they will do, by when they say they will do it
  • Open to giving & receiving feedback – they feel there is always more to learn and have a willingness to admit failures
