About this team

As a Senior Architect II in OMS & Order Services team, you will be acting as an overall Solutions Architect to interface with key stakeholders and apply your technical proficiency across different stages of the Project Life Cycle including requirements refinement, solution architecture definition, design, and development. You will ensure that the OMS & Order Services platform is well designed using best practices to meet the scalability and reliability for growing global eCommerce. You will be supported by a diverse Architecture Community of Practice, which provides learning and governance resources to all architects and will help you build a strong and robust practice of leadership grounded in technical proficiency, innovative thinking and empathy.

A day in the life:

You are responsible for leading the solution design of features that span applications and services across different teams. You will work with other architects and functional leaders to ensure that all designs are clear and complete for successful execution. From solving large complex design problems to leading engineers and architects through delivery & implementation, you will act as a key technical leader, driving alignment and clarity across multiple stakeholder groups.

In this role you will collaborate with Engineering teams, Lead Architects, and Product Management to bring projects from concept to implementation. Your solutions will be aligned with Digital Architecture strategy and consider business needs, timeline, and quality. You’ll also share exciting new patterns and technologies with the team and will partner with engineering leadership on technical roadmaps.

  • Serves as primary technical solution design architect for several teams and their systems and integrations
  • Serves as primary decision escalation resource for addressing architecture and integration issues affecting their team
  • Continuously drive improvements in performance, security, automation, quality, monitoring, and reliability of platforms 
  • Develops and maintains current and future-state architecture models and keeps them up to date
  • Keeps up with industry best practices, technologies, architectures, trends, emerging technologies, and develops proof of concept projects to validate new ideas

Technical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with equivalent experience
  • Deep hands-on experience using compute, networking, storage, and database components in one of the major cloud platforms: Amazon AWS (preferred), Microsoft Azure (preferred), GCP or Alibaba Cloud
  • At least 5+ year experience as Technical Lead
  • At least 3 years experience in developing technology roadmap and driving strategy discussions
  • Experience with each of:
    • Modern engineering practices including microservices and headless architecture
    • Building cloud-native apps and event-message-driven distributed systems 
    • High volume transaction systems
    • Spring Boot and/or Spring Cloud applications  
    • RESTful APIs using JAX-RS and JSON  
    • Servlet/JSP/Filters, Java Web Services, or related skill
    • Agile team CI/CD DevOps and Delivery processes

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction be a self-starter with strong initiative, and ability to manage/execute workload to deliver high quality results

Technical Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with IBM Sterling Commerce Distributed Order Management and Inventory Visibility
  • Experience in transforming legacy applications to microservice based applications
  • High volume commercial web application support for retail market
