about the role

The Europe Regulatory Compliance Manager, provides strategic, operational, and functional support to mitigate legal and brand risks by  amplifying end-to-end global product regulatory compliance in Europe, and by ensuring continuous improvement in product integrity.

a day in the life

The following will fall under your remit:

Regulatory Compliance

  • Product Labelling Compliance: ensure labelling and product claims compliance for all products sold by lululemon in Europe
  • Product Safety and Product Recalls: manage all potential and all claimed product safety incidents, injury reports, escalation processes, and product recalls that occur in the Europe.
  • Chemicals Compliance: implement, maintain, mitigate and monitor product compliance with our Restricted Substances List (RSL) and Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) for apparel and equivalent compliant chemistry requirements for non-apparel items
  • Packaging Compliance and Other Categories: support in the operational execution and implementation of compliance programs related to packaging and any other related categories, as required by the corporate Global Regulatory, Global Quality, and legal teams.

Regulatory Advisory Services

  • Regulatory New Markets and Categories
  • Industry engagement and collaboration
  • Partner closely with the Product Sustainability & Environment team and advise on regulatory matters that play a role in supporting lululemon’s Impact Agenda.

Regulatory Program Governance and Crisis Management

  • As directed by the Global Regulatory strategy, engineer, execute and monitor strategies, processes, and policies to reduce monetary, legal and brand risks associated with regulatory, safety and quality issues across all existing and new product categories for the European market including the United Kingdom.
  • In partnership with the Global Regulatory Team, develop processes to continuously monitor and test current regulatory compliance and existing controls; identify weaknesses or shortfalls then implement solutions to close those gaps

Internal/External Relationship Management:

  • Own and manage key strategic relationship with the internal legal team, consultants, suppliers/manufacturers, and third-party service providers
  • Engage with lululemon new market entry teams as required, to execute a global regulatory strategy that facilitates expansion efforts in Europe
  • Provide regulatory expertise to Product and Product Education Teams in support of lululemon’s product claims strategy in Europe that drives guest acquisition and brand value

skills & experience

  • Advanced degree in law, business, technical or related field
  • 5+ years experience working in a quality, product safety, or regulatory/legal function; experience in apparel/textile sector an asset
  • CQE, CMQ or other quality/regulatory certificates are beneficial
  • Experience with laws of the European Union and countries of Europe  and regulations applicable to adult apparel, accessories, personal care and footwear
  • Experience with regulations and industry standards associated with product labelling a definite asset
  • Background in product testing and compliance an asset
