A day in the life:
Based in Hong Kong SAR, and reporting to Senior Legal Director, APAC, you will be responsible for employment matters and leading the Regional Legal Employment function:
- Providing practical legal advice to People & Culture (Human Resources) on all employment matters, investigations, litigations and disputes for APAC, both retail and supply chain (Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Cambodia).
- Drafting and reviewing legal documentation relating to all employment matters.
- Developing and managing employment templates and related documents.
- Advising and overseeing all employment initiatives and compliance projects.
- Working with cross-functional teams and Global Employment Centre of Excellence Team on projects and initiatives for the region.
- Improving and localizing organizational policies, processes and practices with respect to employment matters and compliance for the region and contributing to risk mitigation for highly regulated initiatives and areas.
- Instructing external counsels as and when needed.
- Developing and conducting legal education and training across the region to increase business stakeholders’ understanding of legal principles and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in law.
- Qualified lawyer in any of the jurisdictions in APAC.
- A minimum 10 years+ PQE with relevant experience gained in a reputable law firm and/or in-house environment. Employment law experience is a Must.
- Experience in MNC, retail and ecommerce is an advantage.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Having a second language would be an advantage
- With strong business acumen, good interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels, and be a good team player.
- Strong analytical skills, detailed-minded and ability to work independently.
- Willing to take challenge.
- Work ethics and integrity.
- Strong collaborative, teaming and interpersonal skills, and behaviors are necessary to work with all levels of the business. At the same time, must be a self-starter who shows initiative.
- The ability to synthesize and summarize appropriations issues and implications for management are required.
- A seasoned professional who can resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- Strategic planning skills.
