About this team 

Global Supply Chain Engineering builds secure, reliable, and scalable platforms that enable the end‑to‑end lifecycle of our products, spanning product creation, planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, and inventory execution. We partner closely with creative, commercial, planning, and operational teams to transform historically manual, sequential workflows into digitally enabled, data‑driven, and resilient supply chain systems that scale globally.

This role sits at the intersection of enterprise platforms, supply chain execution, and digital operations, helping modernize core capabilities and unlock new ways of working across the value chain.

Core responsibilities 

As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will set company-wide engineering direction and technical vision while serving as executive-level technical authority, collaborating closely with architects to influence technical architecture decisions through deep expertise that enables innovation, engineering velocity, and competitive advantage. You will drive innovation in engineering practices establishing the organization as industry leader in engineering excellence, partner with C-level executives on technical transformation initiatives, and balance exemplary hands-on engineering in company-critical systems with advisory and organizational leadership responsibilities. You will mentor and develop engineering leaders building technical leadership capability at scale, influence company strategy through engineering expertise and vision, and represent the company as industry thought leader through keynote presentations, advisory boards, and engineering community leadership. This role may require availability outside of standard business hours, including on‑call support, based on business needs.

Select responsibilities include:

  • Define and evolve the end‑to‑end technical architecture supporting supply chain planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, inventory, and fulfillment.
  • Partner with Principal Architects, Technology Directors, and Executives to define future‑state Go-To-Market, Supply Chain, and Corporate Systems roadmaps aligned to business strategy and competitive advantage.
  • Establish and govern architectural standards, guardrails, and system‑of‑record boundaries across complex, multi‑system ecosystems.
  • Design and deliver cloud‑native, distributed, and event‑driven platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, resilience, and fault tolerance.
  • Lead the modernization of legacy platforms, reducing technical debt while improving delivery speed, system stability, and operational performance.
  • Serve as an exemplary hands‑on technologist, contributing to high‑impact production code, complex debugging efforts, and critical architectural and design reviews.
  • Drive API‑first, headless system design and clean, automated data flows across enterprise interfaces.
  • Define and maintain canonical data models for core supply chain domains (e.g., product, supplier, capacity, cost, inventory, orders, shipments).
  • Apply automation, optimization, and AI‑assisted techniques to improve planning, forecasting, exception management, and decision‑support workflows.
  • Influence company‑wide engineering practices and standards to accelerate velocity, reliability, and developer productivity at enterprise scale.
  • Proactively identify, anticipate, and mitigate systemic technical risks across interconnected platforms and critical supply chain capabilities.
  • Act as a mentor and coach to Principal Engineers and senior technical leaders, building depth, continuity, and technical leadership succession.
  • Serve as an executive‑level technical advisor to C‑level and business unit leaders on major technology investments, platform strategy, and transformation initiatives.


Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience;Master’sor PhD degree strongly preferred
  • 15-18 years of progressive software engineering experience with proven track record of defining technical strategy, driving technical engineering decisions at enterprise scale, and influencing engineering culture across organizations, or equivalent
  • Mastery-level coding ability across diverse technology stacks, with a proven track record of contributing critical production code in the most technically demanding and high-stakes situations
  • Proven ability to define technical decision-making frameworks that enable sound judgement at an organizational level; deep experience anticipating and mitigating company-wide technical risks including systemic failure modes and architectural vulnerabilities; ideally within supply chain, operations or enterprise commercial domains 
  • Experience setting company-wide implementation planning standards and execution frameworks for complex system builds; track record of ensuring architectural designs are executable and operationally sound
  • Demonstrated ability to shape company strategy and competitive positioning by connecting technical capabilities to business opportunities and market dynamics
  • Demonstrated success modernizing legacy systems in large, distributed organizations
  • Deep expertise in: 
  • Cloud‑native architectures (e.g., AWS, containerization, Kubernetes, serverless patterns)
  • Distributed systems and microservices
  • API‑based and event‑driven architectures (e.g., Kafka or equivalent)
  • Data platforms (relational, NoSQL, time‑series, analytical systems, enterprise governance)
  • Practical experience applying automation, analytics, or AI/ML to operational or supply chain workflows.

Compensation and benefits package  

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $224,400 - $294,500annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and equity offerings, subject to program eligibility requirements.
