The Merchandising team creates and executes transformative global product strategies that ensure we have the right assortment in the right place at the right time to fulfill our guests’ unmet needs, deepen our guest relationships, grow our brand, and deliver on long‑term enterprise goals. We possess deep awareness and intuition of global marketplace dynamics and guest needs and use this knowledge to identify opportunities to maximize guest demand.


core responsibilities

The Global Merchant is responsible for creating, curating and bringing product strategies and global product assortment to life through seasonal line plans based on guest insights that reflect global and regional market needs. The Global Merchant has a deep understanding of the Global lululemon consumer and is consumer obsessed. This person is a strategist who can partner with Design, Buying, Product Development, Brand/Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Product Education, and other cross‑functional teams to ensure commercial viability across the global line delivered at Global Line Finalization to drive seasonal buying, brand and marketing activities. The Global Merchant collaborates with partners across the business to ensure product needs associated with critical enterprise priorities are identified, planned for and executed against and ensure brand consistency and regional relevance to maximize profitability and sales across product classes, key items and channels.


Key responsibilities include:

· Lead the development and execution of seasonal global line plans that integrate guest insights, marketplace dynamics, long‑range product roadmaps, and regional needs.

· Build global product strategies and assortments that deliver profitable growth, achieving IMU, cost, and long‑range financial targets.

· Develop global pricing and product architecture frameworks that ensure clarity, consistency, and commercial viability across regions and channels.

· Champion product intent and ensure briefs and adoption goals are met are met throughout product creation — from initial concept through sketches, prototypes, and Global Line Finalization.

· Proactively analyze guest feedback, competitive trends, and hindsight learnings to inform pre‑season strategies and in‑season decisions.

· Partner with Global Merchandise Planning, Demand Planning, and Sourcing to determine global forecasts, style volumes, and vendor allocation strategies.

· Manage and create key franchises and product lifecycle for all styles in assigned product categories including introduction, build and retirement

· Communicate global assortment strategies through visual flows, seasonal decks, and presentations to Regional Merchandising and cross‑functional partners ensuring clarity of intent, key item priorities, and investment focus.

· Brief colour flow for global assortment to ensure profitable storytelling.

· Serve as the voice of the guest throughout product creation and fittings, providing clear and actionable feedback to cross‑functional partners.

· Ensure product data accuracy and maintain alignment to key Merchandising go‑to‑market milestones.

· Provide strategic input to naming, packaging, and feature/benefit to maximize cohesive and impactful storytelling across categories.


qualifications

· BA, BSc, BBA, BComm, or equivalent experience; specialization in Retail or Merchandising Management is an asset.

· Minimum 5 years of Merchandising or Buying experience required; vertical retail and/or omni‑channel experience preferred.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office with mastery in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with merchandising systems, PO/price management tools, Miro or similar digital collaboration platforms is preferred.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data across channels, regions, and market segments.

· Mastery of retail mathematics, including markup, margin, planning, open‑to‑buy, and inventory productivity.

· Ability to balance analytical rigor with creative thinking and strong product intuition.

· Demonstrated ability to interpret financial performance and apply insights to guide seasonal plans and future product strategies.

· Acute eye for product, color theory, and emerging lifestyle and activewear trends, particularly as they apply to active and wellness markets.

· Strong understanding of global marketplace dynamics and regional guest behaviors, with the ability to synthesize insights into global assortments.

· Skilled in enrolling, influencing, and leading cross‑functional partners across Design, Product Development, Planning, Sourcing, and Brand.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present confidently to Senior Leadership.

· Ability to independently make sound business decisions, manage multiple deadlines, and operate within fast‑paced, multi‑category product calendars.

· Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and to work on the retail floor as needed.

compensation and benefits package

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $96,000- 127,000 CADannually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and subject to program eligibility requirements.
