About this team
lululemon has committed to sourcing preferred materials, adopting more responsible manufacturing processes for our products as well as sustainability programs and schemes to support this work. Our work falls under lululemon’s Impact Agenda, which is our stake in the ground toward an equitable, sustainable future. The Sustainable Product Specialist will be a valuable asset to the Sustainable Product and Packaging team as we operationalize new and existing sustainable product programs and schemes; and scale the work required of our vendors and internal teams across the business. A key purpose of this work will is to ensure we can verify the preferred materials that go into our products.
A day in the life:
- Support the maintenance of our sustainable product programs through collection and reconciliation of various methods of verification (transaction certificates, responsible cotton credits, PO fulfillment in traceability platforms, etc).
- Engage with our supply chain partners to provide training, program updates, and respond to queries related to the adoption of lululemon’s sustainable product programs.
- Support building strong relationships and communication channels with key stakeholders, including certification bodies and sustainability program/scheme owners (eg. US Cotton Trust Protocol, Textile Exchange, Better Cotton, etc.).
- Key contributor supporting internal implementation of new sustainable product programs and schemes (research, resource and tool development, audits, vendor readiness, claims, etc.).
- Develop, update, and educate teams on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within Sustainable Product Program team
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify training needs, develop educational materials, and facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives across departments.
- Provide insight to develop/improve existing systems and processes and operations for our key initiatives and programs.
- Monitor and stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices
Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience with sustainable product programs and schemes in the textile and apparel industry (ideally specific experience with Textile Exchange, Global Organic Textile Standard, Better Cotton, etc.) and other similar industry standards.
- 2+ years’ experience working with textile/apparel supply chain partners or other similar external stakeholders on a global scale
- Working understanding of sustainability initiatives within a professional setting and a passion to be a part of leading responsible transformation through business (e.g., adoption of preferred materials, traceability, circularity, supply chain responsibility, etc.)
- Understanding of the apparel, footwear, sportswear industry and global operations
- Experience in process development, and maintenance of tool and resource
- Experience working within product data collection, management, and reporting platforms to ensure all information remains accurate and up to date desired
- Ability to create data analysis visuals in a practical and compelling way
- Experience with Microsoft 365 suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Power BI, SharePoint, Smartsheet, or other similar project tracking and reporting tools desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills
