about this team
The Outbound Logistics Manager will lead a team that is responsible for efficient, cost-effective and on time transportation from our Distribution Centers to our e-commerce guests, our stores, and the logistics of drop ship and direct injections to carrier partners as well as the returns flow from these channels. This position involves developing and maintaining relationships within our company and with service providers, managing and developing teams, as well as budgetary oversight. The manager will need a deep knowledge and oversight of the parcel engine, and its relationship with the OMS and WMS systems.
As a manager, this role will involve a strong understanding of transportation and industry compliance. The position also requires a good comprehension of company and departmental policies/procedures and internal controls. Relationship building across departments, vendors, and teams is essential.

- Coach, mentor, lead and inspire the team to develop themselves and our business
- Encourages the spirit of personal development and entrepreneurship
- Manage outbound transport from our Distribution Centers to our e-commerce guests, Ship To Store, Ship From Store, and the logistics of drop ship and direct injections to carrier partners
- Manage & measure Logistics vendors performance in relation to the pullback from stores to DC, return from guests and inbound from various DC transfers.
- Manage outbound logistics team and department P&L
- Work with the distribution and logistics teams and cross-functional partners (including the GEC, Digital/Omni, Finance, Inventory Control, Technology) to provide and create transportation solutions as well as develop and implement service improvements and cost reductions
- Regular connect with Retail & Operations partners to enhance & support them for any business practice and initiatives from the lens of logistics.
- Establish effective enhancements to our operations and guest experience
- Stay up to date with industry developments to establish most appropriate transportation strategies in partnership with our Global OBL CoE team
- Analyze freight spend in order to identify opportunities for cost reduction in specific areas of small parcel, LTL, TL and pool distribution while maintaining a high standard of delivery service
- Analyze business processes to identify and implement cost and service improvements
- Join and/or lead the negotiations for rates, service plans, and contracts with transportation providers
- Build and maintain partnerships with transportation vendors to leverage their capabilities and service
- Provide internal and external performance metrics and cost analyses to leadership and business partners
- Monitor and maintain vendor scorecards for the transportation service providers
- Maintain and oversee department SOP’s and work towards standardized processes with our outbound logistics teams globally
- Share best practices with global/international fulfillment teams and provide support to other logistics teams if and where needed
- Establish guidelines and provide training for shipping and receiving processes
- Present effectively to leadership, and communicate well with all levels of the company
- Identify successors in order to build the department and company pipeline
- Identify and manage department projects as well complete special assignments given by the Director and/or Senior Manager
qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of professional experience in logistics management
- Experience in retail transportation highly desirable
- Experience working for a large retail company
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong leadership skills by leading and developing direct reports
- Strong analytical, organizational and responsive problem solving skills
- Ability to develop and manage budgets
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively influence and negotiate
- Strong working knowledge of Transportation and Warehouse Management Systems
- Good knowledge of customs clearance and compliance
- Must be able to complete multiple projects simultaneously and manage time in a constructive and efficient manner
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Willingness to travel domestically/internationally as needed
