about this team

The Indirect Tax team is responsible for managing indirect tax collected and paid throughout lululemon’s global operations, including VAT, GST and other transaction taxes.  We mitigate risks and ensure compliance with the local regulations.  We also provide strategic planning and operational guidance to the business to support various growth Initiatives.  We understand our technology ecosystem to enable a deep understanding of how financial Information and processes are captured as it relates to indirect taxes


core responsibilities:

The Senior Advisor will provide global indirect tax (VAT, GST and related) expertise related to all international strategic initiatives and business projects, including new market entry. They will monitor the global regulatory environment for developments and changes in the indirect tax landscape.


  • Collaborate with tax technology and compliance to address regulatory requirements, reporting needs and system gaps for the purpose of creating systems-based solutions.
  • Monitor the regulatory landscape for developing VAT legislation and conduct internal impact studies to assess readiness and implementation.
  • Prepare tax technical memos and document tax requirements for all business projects.
  • Provide tax compliance requirements for all new market entry activities and global expansion initiatives.
  • Ensure the business is well-informed of the impact of any new tax law change and/or strategic initiatives, and ensure tax requirements are understood.
  • Review legal contracts from indirect tax lens to ensure that legal agreements are optimized to reduce risk and unintended costs from a tax perspective.
  • Support tax compliance with tax positions including matters under audit and controversy.


qualifications:

  • Professional certification in Finance or a related field, with preference toward specialization in Indirect Tax.
  • In-depth knowledge of indirect tax regulations, including VAT, GST, and other related taxes in the EMEA region.
  • Able to analyse tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and apply tax regulations effectively.
  • Minimum five years of experience in indirect tax management, preferably in a multinational organization and/or public accounting firm.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to adapt to changing tax regulations and business environments.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in all tax-related matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.

compensation and benefits package 

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $81,500-$107,000annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program subject to program eligibility requirements.
