The Footwear design team is a diverse group of creative and strategic thinkers, who are future thinking, detail-orientated and solution focused. They are at the forefront of performance and lifestyle footwear and aware of macro trends and how this relates to the sportswear industry. A day in the life:
The Director, Advanced Concept Footwear Design at lululemon leads the advanced design process and creates world class footwear that is acknowledged as leading in innovation, design, function, fit and quality. You will lead design teams for Advanced Concepts, executing the design strategy ahead of mainline product creation. You will explore, shape, design on advanced timelines and translate innovation work to commercial concepts, connecting UPOV’s to high value innovations. You will support the larger innovation roadmap through a design lens.
Key responsibilities:
· Lead and manage Advanced Concepts Design team
· Explore and shape near-term (0-3 years) creative direction/vision/strategy together with Global Merchandising
· Design and develop, in cooperation with appropriate innovation team members, relevant technologies, construction ideas and patterns through protos – ensuring feel/function/manufacturability. These areas should be striving for disruption, not comping the market.
· Create stories, exploring and developing new performance innovations, that are born from research results and guest insights, to bring “on brand” industry leading product designs and concepts, delivering against guest needs.
· Be at the global forefront of design trends and be innovative in their application.
· Own and coordinate the creative process to ensure that final products meet innovation and mainline / commercial strategic needs and objectives.
· Collaborate end to end, with innovation team through to product creation teams to ensure concepts are integrated into seasonal ranges and long-term product roadmap plans.
· Ensure close partnership with Global Merchandising and Development.
Qualifications:
· An understanding in 3D design would be a benefit
