A day in the life: 

The Senior Director, Associate General Counsel sets and implements legal strategy for the APAC region, offers strategic leadership locally and globally as needed, and provides prompt, practical advice on legal, risk analysis, regulatory, and compliance matters for lululemon. This role is part of both the Legal and APAC Leadership Teams.


  • Overseeing all APAC jurisdictions/markets from a legal and compliance perspective, including stores, distribution centers and SSC. 
  • Member of APAC ELT and Legal LTL reporting to CLCO providing input and support on global legal team strategy and OKR’s
  • Lead on APAC Compliance Risk oversight steerco, ensuring key risks are elevated to GRC, and the CLCO.
  • Identify, formulate and drive APAC Initiatives and priorities for the region together with senior cross- functional leaders ensuring APAC ELT and the CLCO are aware of what the region needs.
  • Risk assessment and analysis on legal and compliance matters in the regions; driving and formulating compliance plans and strategies; ensuring execution of these plans and strategies and communicating the same to APAC ELT, CLCO and senior leaders. 
  • Influencing and collaborating with leadership teams across the regions and global. 
  • Geo-political issues oversight across APAC and working closely with senior leaders to proactively address issues and forward planning.
  • Legal strategy planning and oversight for APAC. Removing obstacles for the team to deliver results and deliverables.
  • Leadership and oversight of the legal team.
  • Responsible for managing external counsel and the associated budget and the overall strategy of third-party legal advice.
  • Supporting Risk oversight work and helping ensure adequate controls are in place
  • APAC Legal budget planning and oversight
  • Bridging gaps and communicator for market practices and culture nuances against global practices ensuring deliverables fit local and market needs culturally and legally.
  • Mentoring and coaching all team members.


Qualifications:
  • JD or bachelor’s degree in law from an accredited institution
  • Admission into the bar of practice, or the ability to register as in-house counsel
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Law degree from a University and an LLM or equivalent qualification from an international university or a JD or equivalent from a North American or International Law School.
  • Qualified to practice law in APAC and familiar with the laws of the APAC region. Experience or bar qualification in other APAC countries would be an asset as well.
