a day in the life 

This Staff Engineer will define the architecture and influence the solution and business strategy to build a cost-effective global network. This architecture is the core of a multi global network backbone that supports all our application teams. The role will lead the engineering of platforms that enable high scale internal teams to securely use the high performance and scalable lululemon Global network.

 

As a Staff Engineer, you will work as a technical engineering leader for the lululemon Global network infrastructure. You will be counted on as a leader in your technology space as you contribute to all areas of design and engineering (pre-production to production). You will spend a fair amount of time planning the evolution of the tools and systems in network infrastructure, guiding your team’s roadmap year to year, and leading and enrolling others. You will contribute heavily to our Engineering principles by maintaining the practical “how we do it” documentation, and by partnering with fellow network engineers, Senior Leadership and Principal Engineers & Architects to lead a Community of Practice aimed at increasing Engineer training and development for your technology area. Staff Engineers work to elevate our engineering community by designing/introducing tools and systems that accelerate and support our engineering best practices. 

 

  • Serve as a lead engineering resource on the global network infrastructure team, dealing with challenging engineering problems and opportunities
  • Influence decisions that impact critical long term Technology strategy for organizational success
  • Provide thought leadership in the global networking domain to ensure that systems and services are designed and operating to achieve optimal levels of performance, reliability, security, and sustainability
  • Technical delivery and ownership of network design and engineering solutions
  • Responsible for providing solutions that support multiple teams across the organization
  • Contribute to the development of new network engineering principles and concepts
  • Lead various efforts by engaging and coordinating work with other Network Engineers and Architects, as well as providing updates to Leadership and other teams
  • Demonstrates ability to coach team members around best practices for delivering highly performant and scalable solutions for the global network
  • Ensures security practices and/or security system fundamentals are defined and shared across multiple teams, and mentors others on these practices
  • Provides leadership and subject matter expertise to identify solutions for network security gaps and challenges

 

qualifications 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with demonstrated expertise across a variety of network disciplines and technology best practices
  • Proven ability to design, engineer, and build highly available, resilient, and scalable on-premises, cloud, and hybrid networks using industry best practices and modern architectures
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise routing/switching, SD-WAN, wireless, network security, and cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure,Aviatrix), including VPC/VNet design and best practices
  • Strong understanding of network security frameworks and tools (e.g., Palo Alto, Zscaler), including segmentation, VPNs, and zero-trust principles
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Splunk, Datadog) for performance optimization
  • Ability to explain technical solutions to a non-technical audience and translate business requirements to technical solutions

compensation and benefits package 

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $148,000 - $194,000annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
