About this team:

The Product Development team is responsible for the management of multiple product track development projects at all stages from initial concepting, through design, development and up to start of production. As part of this team, we are comprised of Pattern Engineers, Technical Developers, and Product Managers. This team assists in the creation and commercialization of premium performance product ensuring it is performing for the intended end-use through garment fit and construction and is meeting the required quality standards through lab and wear-testing in accordance with lululemon business goals.

A day in the life:

  • Proactively partner with cross-functional product leaders to create, drive, and execute on product development strategies that enable product growth roadmaps
  • Build a close rapport and working relationship with cross-functional team leaders, liaison offices, and vendors to build strategies internally and externally on processes, product initiatives, and projects which enable efficient and successful product creation
  • Motivate, develop, and lead product development teams to build premium product through function, fit, quality of workmanship, while meeting quality testing requirements and design intent
  • Partner closely with Global Fit to develop and continually advance technical expertise within teams to ensure a consistent fit experience is delivered to our guest
  • Establish and maintain collaborative and open communication with a diverse range of vendors across relevant product categories
  • Collaborate with Product Development leaders, recruitment, and talent teams to create hiring standards that advance our technical skill set and enable a diverse Product Development organization for our global growth strategies



Responsibilities:

  • Manage and address any gaps in technical acumen to ensure product categories have the required technical expertise to execute on product briefs for the needs of the business
  • Develop and maintain budget for the department and provide qualitative and quantitative results based on product key performance indicators (KPI’s) and operational key results
  • Establish accountability for teams to deliver to Go to Market milestones and buy readiness deadlines
  • Collaborate with Sourcing to assess vendors innovation and development capabilities, build and lead onboarding programs for new vendors, and offer product specific guidance as needed
  • Empower managers to lead their teams through product KPI’s by anticipating and proactively removing roadblocks as needed
  • Manage, mentor, and provide career coaching to direct reports and team members


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • 10-12 years of apparel or consumer products industry required; production and/or manufacturing experience an asset
  • 7+ years of management experience preferably within product design, development, and/or technical design team
  • Experience in a vertically integrated, global, specialty apparel retail environment is an asset
  • Ability to empower and drive diverse teams with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
  • Proven success adjusting and leading teams to rapidly changing business needs
  • Able to present and communicate effectively with cross-functional peers, senior leaders, and non-product experts on technical and product related topics
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to teach, train, and mentor all staff in an inclusive and constructive manner
  • Have a strategic and innovative mindset and ability to plan and deliver to future product growth roadmaps
  • Leads by example and easily able to collaborate with peers
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and operate under tight time constraints with a strong sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, mitigate, and resolve conflicts across working groups
