About lululemon

lululemon is a global athletic apparel company inspired by the power of movement and mindfulness. We create technical gear for yoga, training, and all types of active living while fostering a culture grounded in connection, personal growth, and well-being.

Role Summary

The Finance Specialist will play a key individual contributor role in strengthening and stabilizing lululemon México’s financial operations during a 12-month transition period. This position is designed for a senior finance professional who operates with a high degree of autonomy, strong business judgment, and a proactive mindset.

The role combines hands-on financial execution with process analysis and improvement. It requires someone who understands how finance supports the business, can identify inefficiencies and ownership gaps, and is capable of translating observations into practical, sustainable solutions. The position is expected to take initiative, anticipate issues, and drive topics forward in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

The ultimate objective is to leave behind well-structured, documented, and sustainable finance operations that enable the organization to function effectively once the temporary role concludes.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Execution & Ownership (Short-Term Stabilization)

• Own the day-to-day execution of lease-related financial activities, including receiving, organizing, validating, and uploading lease invoices into Coupa.
 • Support Accounts Payable (Record to Pay) processes for Mexico, ensuring timely payments, accurate reconciliations, and resolution of operational issues.
 • Execute key components of month-end close activities related to accounting and treasury, including accruals, reconciliations, and follow-up on variances.
 • Perform bank reconciliations, proactively investigate discrepancies, and support accurate cash flow tracking.
 • Review and validate vendor information to ensure compliance with local tax, legal, and documentation requirements.
 • Create, automate, and maintain recurring financial reports, including revenue reports for landlords, with a focus on accuracy and repeatability.
 • Prepare and support journal entries related to leases, AP, and treasury, applying sound accounting judgment and attention to detail.

Process Improvement, Technology Enablement & Transition (Core Value of the Role)

• Analyze existing finance processes to identify inefficiencies, manual workarounds, recurring issues, and unclear ownership—particularly within legacy or transitional workflows.
 • Propose and implement practical process improvements that balance global finance standards with local operational realities.
 • Lead the design and implementation of a ServiceNow-based ticketing model for Finance, enabling structured intake, prioritization, and tracking of ad hoc business requests.
 • Define ticket categories, service levels, ownership, and escalation paths, ensuring alignment with Finance and key business stakeholders.
 • Use ServiceNow data and metrics (volume, aging, root causes) to identify trends and drive continuous operational improvements.
 • Develop clear trackers, templates, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that improve transparency, accountability, and execution discipline.
 • Support the creation of localized finance documentation and guidelines that clarify roles and responsibilities across teams.
 • Independently drive the transition of responsibilities to permanent teams through process documentation, knowledge transfer, and readiness validation.
 • Contribute to a structured handover package that ensures continuity and sustainability once the role sunsets.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Global and Local finance teams to ensure alignment with internal controls, reporting standards, and operational expectations.
 • Partner with business stakeholders to improve the way finance requests are submitted, tracked, and resolved through standardized intake mechanisms.
 • Collaborate effectively across functions and geographies, navigating different ways of working while maintaining momentum and accountability.
 • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and operational insights to support decision-making during the transition period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
 • 4–6 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or treasury roles, preferably in a multinational or fast-paced environment.
 • Demonstrated experience improving or optimizing finance processes, including the use of systems or tools to enhance operational efficiency.
 • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable, month-end close, and treasury functions.
 • Experience working with ERP systems such as Coupa, Oracle, or similar platforms
 • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, reconciliations, and data analysis.
 • Advanced English required (written and spoken).
 • Highly proactive, self-driven, and comfortable operating with limited supervision.
 • Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills.

Success Measures (End-State Expectations)

By the end of the 12-month assignment, success is defined by:

 • A stable, well-documented lease invoice workflow with clear ownership and reduced manual intervention.
 • Improved AP and treasury processes supported by simple, effective documentation and controls.
 • A fully implemented and adopted ServiceNow ticketing process for Finance, providing visibility, prioritization, and traceability of ad hoc business requests.
 • Improved response times and transparency for Finance requests, supported by ticket data and performance metrics.
 • A visible reduction in recurring operational issues and rework as a result of proactive process improvements.
 • A clear, usable handover package that enables permanent teams to operate confidently without dependency on this role
