About this team 

The Global Architecture group at lululemon is responsible for driving technical strategies, innovation, architecture, and data that support every aspect of our rapidly scaling global business. You will work in a matrixed environment alongside peers in business, product, engineering, program, – among other disciplines – to collaboratively develop and deliver industry leading strategic technology and architecture solutions aligned to business goals and objectives. In addition to your primary team, project, or portfolio you will be supported by a diverse Architecture Community, which provides learning and governance resources to all architects and will help you build a strong and robust practice of leadership grounded in technical proficiency, innovative thinking and empathy. 

A day in the life:  

As a Principal Architect – Data & Analytics, you will define the long-term vision, architecture, and roadmap for enterprise data platforms, analytics capabilities, and data governance. You will partner closely with business, data, and technology leaders to enable trusted data access, advanced insights, and enterprise-wide analytics at scale. 

In this role, you will manage a portfolio of solution architectures and technical strategies spanning multiple business capabilities. Partnering with senior leaders and architects at all levels, you will establish and govern strategic target-state architectures, ensuring consistency and scalability across the enterprise. Additionally, you will provide technology guidance, mentorship, and subject matter expertise to Business and Technology leaders, driving innovation and architectural excellence.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Strategic Architecture & Road mapping 

  • Define and maintain the future-state architecture for data and analytics across the enterprise. 
  • Develop multi-year roadmaps to modernize legacy systems, enable self-serve analytics, and scale reporting & AI/ML use cases. 
  • Architect cloud-native data solutions (e.g., Lakehouse, event-driven pipelines, metadata management) that meet performance, security, and compliance requirements. 

Enterprise Enablement 

  • Partner with business leaders, analytics teams, and data stewards to understand data needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions. 
  • Guide platform and engineering teams on data model design, transformation layers, governance, and observability. 
  • Enable data democratization through scalable data products, business-friendly models, and intuitive analytics platforms. 

Governance & Quality 

  • Establish and enforce data architecture principles, standards, and practices. 
  • Drive adoption of robust data governance, lineage, quality, and access management frameworks. 
  • Ensure architecture compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX). 

Collaboration & Leadership 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology stakeholders. 
  • Mentor and lead solution architects and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. 
  • Lead architectural reviews, design sessions, and data strategy forums. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • BS (or equivalent credentials) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Software Architecture preferred; candidates with substantial and relevant industry experience are also eligible. 
  • Minimum eight years of data platform architecture
  • Strong background in data architecture, cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP) 
  • Deep experience designing and implementing cloud-native data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift). 
  • Proven track record with modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Tableau, Power BI). 
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, metadata, data governance, data quality, and security frameworks. 
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, data mesh, data products, or self-serve analytics environments. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Proficiency in data governance, data modeling, and metadata management. 
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Databricks) and real-time streaming (Kafka, Flink). 
  • Experience with the enterprise technology procurement process. 
  • Ability to learn, understand, and work quickly with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space. 
  • Knowledge of large-scale computing solutions and ability to design distributed systems. 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. 
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value. 
  • Strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset. 
  • Maintain deep understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and complete tool assessments to support future state Architecture and AI/ML initiatives
  • Experience and understanding of large-scale infrastructure-as-a-service platforms (e.g. Google Cloud Platform, Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure)
  • Prior Experience with DG tools like Collibra
  • Experience with the enterprise technology procurement process.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and work quickly with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space.
  • Knowledge of large-scale computing solutions and ability to design distributed systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset.

Compensation and Benefits Package

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from  annually

$190,000-237,000; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
