about this team

A collaborative management role, providing leadership and inspiration in the commercialization process of the technical surface interest developments, allowing a team of developers to create best in class products. This role is strategic within their area of expertise focusing on building and maintaining excellent internal and external cross functional relationship while creating partnership to facilitate premium print, garment dye, wash and surface interest developments.


a day in the life 

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To resource & allocate seasonal and out of season technical surface interest developments efficiently across various product classifications and team capabilities in developing complex performance athletic printed fabric and garment dye techniques that creates the differentiation in Lululemon’s Raw Material offering
  • Direct Print, Wash, Garment dye development to ensure cost parameters, quality, design intent are achieved to a target cost parameter
  • Maintain a knowledgeable overview of all technical development across the different product categories, able to proxy and aid in decision making
  • Strategically lead team improving and building new processes as needed to achieve optimum development efficiency 
  • Deliver on business KPI’s measuring metrics season on season, improving team effectiveness year to year
  • Create task level calendar , ensure adherence to Go To Market calendar and monitor key dates and gates are met. Initiate developments outside of seasonal calendar
  • To be responsible for seasonal readiness accordingly to the GTM calendar
  • Promote collaboration, communication, innovation and teamwork with the brand between cross functional partners
  • Maintain up to date on innovation, industry tends and new technology even from the sustainability point of view. To seek new techniques and continually bring innovation to surprise and delight the guest with prints, garment dye new techniques


 LEADING

  •  Support the RM print, Garment Dye, Wash Sr Director on setting short and long terms development strategies
  •  Provide leadership and direction to the team in commercializing first in class premium technical surface interest developments
  •  Create and guide team members through personal development plans and big business goal setting
  •  Supervise , train, mentor, coach the team; to share best practices and expertise to improve technical and soft skill set while creating a safe environment for sharing and growth

 

 PARTNER

  • Collaborate with cross functional team members to ensure full transparency and awareness of preseason technical development status and risk along multiple track seasonal deadlines
  • Partner with the merch and design to complete strategic product brief
  • Collaborate with design to complete new technical surface interest on fabrics and styles to be printed and garment dye to drive innovation 
  • Recommend appropriate technical development vendor assignment
  • Communicate projects that fall behind schedule course correcting by creating an action plan tailored to the specific situation 
  • Create environment of transparency during development aligning with cross functional partners targeting 100% readiness season after season

 

qualifications 

  • 10 years of apparel industry experience in product development, garment, fit cost engineering and technical and functional complex print developments 
  • 5 years people management experience
  • Skill set of success commercializing functional products in both knits and wovens on various calendar tracks
  • Proven project management talents including to solve ad hoc problems through the development process
  • Passionate about mentoring, coaching and training people according to individual goals and objectives
  • Experience leading on site developments

Compensation and Benefits Package 
lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $ 129,600-170,100 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
