a day in the life

  • Through industry research and benchmarking, maintain a comprehensive understanding of cultural and social shifts, with a keen focus on silhouettes, raw materials, colour, print and graphic techniques. Identify patterns in research and draw conclusions rooted in a thorough understanding of our brand. View research and insights through the lens of our brand strategy, anticipating the needs of our guests and the influences that drive their preferences. Build micro and macro reports, collating ideas and possibilities to share with leadership to support CKO Ideation Week. 
  • Partner with Strategic Foresights and Insights in-house team to gather relevant data and gain brand business insights on top sellers, styles, colour, prints and graphics, by business, to share at CKO Ideation Week, to spark opportunities for progression and inspire next-generation ideation for our Key Franchise Programs.
  • Partner with key cross functional teams, including Prints and Graphics team, and Footwear Concept Colour and Material teams, to support in collating content that will serve both insight and inspiration for CKO Ideation Week. Partner with Advanced Concept team to gain insight on new innovation to socialize at CKO ideation week.
  • Through industry research and an understanding of cultural and social trends, generate ideas to support landing a key theme for CKO Ideation Week, aligned with our business strategy and brand. Share recommendations to support curating content involving guest speakers and trips, leading to a unified vision and strategic direction.
  • Summarize information from ideation week by creating mood boards that capture the essence of each season's trends.
  • Support the curation of the proposed seasonal colour palette based on direction from Design leadership, incorporating relevant feedback, trends, ideas and insights gathered at CKO ideation week. Propose the colour lifecycle strategy in partnership with the Global Merchandising team, inclusive of regional insights.
  • Support the facilitation of divisional leadership meetings to review and align on colour sub palettes, to achieve cohesion across the global colour palette. Apply expertise and knowledge to edit, make recommendations, present alternative solutions and creatively problem solve to support leaders in achieving the desired global palette. Present relevant visual tools and relevant data and insights to facilitate the discussion
  • Project manage the creation of names for the chosen colours in the palette, complimenting the seasonal theme.
  • Facilitate building the palette with the colour standards provider and complete initial risk testing of the palette using the site tool. Assess output and escalate concerns to Senior Director as required.
  • Create colour assets and visual tools for leadership meetings to facilitate decision making and sign off of the colour palette. These tools and assets must compliment the seasonal colour palettes and represent the colour strategy to meet the business needs.
  • Manage the coordination and distribution of colour tools seasonally for key cross functional teams to support in season colour decisions
  • Curate content to inform art direction assets, to support cross functional teams in product commercialization.
  • Mentor Junior team members to develop skills and build functional expertise, fostering a collaborative and creative environment.

 

qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience
  • BA, BFA or BS in Design required (or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop). Experience with 3D, visual AI software is preferred.
  • Aesthetic Intelligence: Understand and appreciate the nuances of design. It involves an understanding of beauty and style in order to develop ideas and concepts that are visually pleasing and resonate with the target audience. It includes critical thinking, cultural literacy and emotional sensitivity.
  • Global Market and Brand Alignment: Translate global trends, research and consumer behaviours into concepts that align and enhance brand's identity and are commercially viable.
  • Visual Communication: capturing ideas in an inspiring and dynamic way, to the team, stakeholders and cross functional partners. This includes visualization and presentation skills.
  • Verbal Communication: Clearly articulate design ideas and concepts to the team, stakeholders and cross-functional partners. It also involves listening and incorporating feedback. This includes clarity, precision and presentation skills.
  • Color Theory and Practical Application: Knowledge of how colours interact, harmonize and affect visual perception and emotions, coupled with knowledge of their application to various materials.
  • Project Management: Planning, organizing and leading projects. This includes time management.

compensation and benefits package 

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $119,200-$156,500 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and, subject to program eligibility requirements.
