About this team

Raw Material Colourization Team - The Raw Materials Developer (Colour) is a technical expert who is passionate about executing seasonal and long range colour developments. They lead from a place of inquiry and apply reason and critical thinking to analyse and improve process and product offerings.


A day in the life 
  • Sends lab dip requests to vendors from Flex PLM
  • Supports developer in seasonal colour feasibility
  • Reviews lab dip colourfastness results to ensure ratings are acceptable
  • Knowledgeable of all calendar deadlines and how they affect the overall business needs
  • Reviews and approves lab dips on all substrates to ensure max visual compliance to the colour standard
  • Works side by side with developer to support in balancing workload and business needs
  • Learns and incorporates digital colour review to evaluate lab dips
  • Understands basic colour theory to solve colour issues
  • Tracks lab dip data in Flex PLM and sends daily vendor comments


Qualifications:
  • 1- 2 years of experience in colour related field & technical training
  • Post-secondary education in fashion or textiles area of study
  • Digital colour technical knowledge: ability to measure and assess spectrophotometer readings
  • Good understanding of Datacolor and/or X-rite software
  • Experience working in a PLM system
  • Score of 16 or better on Munsell Hue 100 Test
  • Team player and good understanding of apparel industry functions
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Adobe Illustrator, PLM software, Microsoft office applications and Outlook); experience with colour tools and systems
  • Knowledge of product creation calendar timeline and able to work against deadlines
