Setting the bar in technical fabrics and functional design, we create transformational products and experiences that support people in moving, growing, connecting, and being well. We owe our success to our innovative product, emphasis on stores, commitment to our people, and the incredible connections we make in every community we're in. As a company, we focus on creating positive change to build a healthier, thriving future. In particular, that includes creating an equitable, inclusive and growth-focused environment for our people.

about this team

The Marketing Technology (MarTech) team owns the platforms, data pipelines, and systems that power lululemon’s global marketing capabilities across digital, lifecycle, personalization, measurement, and experimentation. This team sits at the intersection of customer experience, data, and growth, enabling scalable, compliant, and insight-driven engagement across regions and channels.

The team’s mandate is not just delivery, but building durable platforms that enable marketing velocity, measurable outcomes, and long-term flexibility as the business scales globally. Primary platforms include Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Salesforce Personalization (Interaction Studio), integrated with our customer data and identity/consent systems.

core responsibilities

This Technology Director role is a senior technical and organizational leadership position with end-to-end ownership of critical MarTech platforms and capabilities. The role is accountable for strategy, architecture, execution, and operational excellence, with a strong emphasis on business outcomes and technical rigor.

  • Own the long-term technical vision and architecture for MarTech platforms, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Act as a single-threaded owner for major MarTech capabilities, accountable for delivery, reliability, cost, and business impact.
  • Partner closely with Product, Marketing, Data, Security, and Enterprise Technology leaders to translate business objectives into executable technical roadmaps.
  • Lead and develop senior engineers and managers, setting a high bar for technical quality, operational excellence, and ownership.
  • Drive mechanisms for execution (planning, prioritization, metrics, reviews) that enable predictable delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure systems are built with operational excellence in mind, including observability, incident management, and clear on-call and support models.
  • Make data-informed tradeoffs across speed, quality, cost, and risk, clearly articulating rationale to senior stakeholders.
  • Anticipate future needs and constraints, proactively addressing technical debt, scale limits, and integration complexity before they become blockers.
  • Ensure privacy-by-design and compliance-by-default across consent, regional regulations (GDPR/CCPA/CASL), and data governance, in partnership with Legal and Privacy.
  • Own vendor/partner strategy for MarTech platforms and services; negotiate and optimize total cost of ownership with Procurement and Finance without sacrificing capability.

qualifications

  • 12+ years in software/platform/enterprise technology with significant experience leading managers and multi-disciplinary teams; prior Director-level ownership preferred.
  • Proven experience owning and operating large-scale, guest-facing or data-intensive platforms in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong technical foundation across distributed systems, cloud architecture (Azure/AWS), APIs, streaming/event-driven data, and integration patterns.
  • Demonstrated success setting multi-year technical strategy and delivering roadmaps tied to measurable business outcomes and KPIs.
  • Hands-on familiarity with modern MarTech stacks (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Personalization/Interaction Studio, or equivalent).
  • Experience implementing privacy-by-design and consent management in regulated or privacy-sensitive environments (GDPR/CCPA/CASL).
  • Track record of developing high-performing engineering leaders and inclusive teams; effective at hiring, coaching, and performance management.
