about this team


The Indirect Tax team is responsible for managing indirect tax collected and paid throughout lululemon’s global operations, including VAT, GST and other transaction taxes.  We mitigate risks and ensure compliance with the local regulations.   We also provide strategic planning and operational guidance to the business to support various growth Initiatives.   We understand our technology ecosystem to enable a deep understanding of how financial Information and processes are captured as it relates to indirect taxes.

 

a day in the life: 

Reporting to the Global Indirect Tax Director based in Vancouver, Canada, the Indirect Tax Manager, EMEA will provide indirect tax expertise for the European region as it relates to reporting and compliance, VAT accounting operations and strategic initiatives.  This role is based in London and will require collaboration with business teams across lululemon, dealing with domestic cross-border indirect tax matters and omni-channel transactions.  Duties will Include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee indirect tax compliance and reporting for the EMEA region, including timely and accurate filing of VAT, GST, DST, statistical reporting and other indirect tax obligations as applicable;
  • Collaborate with the North America based team for guidance and support from Global Indirect Tax perspective; 
  • Collaborate with local finance, technology, legal and other teams to ensure tax compliance while delivering on business objectives;
  • Manage relationships with external advisors and tax authorities;
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position and minimize risks;
  • Support the design and implementation of Tax Technology projects, including e-invoicing;
  • Advise on business initiatives (e.g. new market entry, review of supply chain, contract review and discussing optimal setup with the operators/traders including the setup of the systems);
  • Train and support the business on indirect tax matters;
  • Prepare technical memos, operating procedure manuals and other material as necessary.

 

qualifications:

  • Professional certification in Finance or a related field, with preference toward specialization in Indirect Tax.
  • In-depth knowledge of indirect tax regulations, including VAT, GST, and other related taxes in the EMEA region.
  • Proven experience in managing indirect tax compliance and reporting processes.
  • Able to develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and apply tax regulations effectively.
  • Proficient with ERP systems (e.g. Oracle) and familiar with automation and tax technology (tax engines, data reporting tools and e-invoicing).

 

must haves:

  • Minimum five years of experience in indirect tax management, preferably in a multinational organization or public accounting firm.
  • Proven track record of managing indirect tax operations in the EMEA region.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to adapt to changing tax regulations and business environments.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in all tax-related matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
