about this team

We are looking for a motivated Associate Engineer II to join the SRE Foundations team, which is responsible for observability and monitoring across lululemon’s digital ecosystem. The Foundations team partners closely with product engineering teams to improve reliability through strong monitoring practices, tooling, and visibility into systems.

As a consultative enablement team, SRE Foundations provides guidance and hands-on support to help teams build resilient, high-quality software. The team owns the management of our monitoring tools and establishes best practices for using those tools effectively. This role is ideal for an engineer who is eager to grow their skills in reliability engineering, observability, and incident management while working alongside experienced SREs.

core responsibilities

As an Associate Engineer II, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of monitoring and observability solutions under the guidance of senior engineers. You will help build dashboards, define meaningful metrics, and support incident response and problem management efforts.

You will partner with product teams, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to support monitoring adoption and reliability improvements, while continuing to develop your technical depth and judgment. This role focuses on execution, learning, and growing ownership within a collaborative team environment.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions that support troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve observability and reliability across digital systems
  • Work with technical and business partners to integrate monitoring into products using tools such as Datadog
  • Build and maintain dashboards and alerts to support service visibility and reliability
  • Support product teams by providing guidance on monitoring best practices and tool usage
  • Partner with other technical teams to align on standards and best practices
  • Help balance incoming support requests with planned investment work, with guidance from senior team members
  • Identify gaps or limitations in observability tooling and escalate recommendations for improvement
  • Contribute to automation efforts for collecting and analyzing observability data
  • Participate in incident response activities, post-incident reviews, and problem management efforts to learn and improve system reliability
  • Stay current with SRE and observability trends and apply learnings with support from the team

qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2–4 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or SRE-related roles
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools, log aggregation platforms, or distributed tracing concepts
  • Basic understanding of Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in root cause analysis
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional team environments
  • Eagerness to learn, take feedback, and grow technical and professional skills

  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovate to achieve great results.
  • Communicate with honesty and kindness and create the space for others to do the same.
  • Lead with courage, knowing the possibility of greatness is bigger than the fear of failure.
  • Foster connection by putting people first and building trusting relationships.
  • Integrate fun and joy as a way of being and working, aka doesn’t take yourself too seriously.
