About this team

The Global Packaging and Labelling team is responsible for planning, designing, developing, testing, and producing end-to-end packaging and labels. We work in close partnership with cross-functional teams across the business and partners throughout supply chain. We meet the needs of our product, guests, markets and channels in order to achieve our strategic priorities and business goals. We ensure packaging and labelling materials are production ready and support successful product delivery.


A day in the life

The Packaging Design team plans, designs and reviews all end-to-end packaging and labelling design concepts. We bring a strong creative vision to amplify the product and guest experience, and partner with the Packaging Development and Production teams to bring the vision to life. We collaborate with the Brand Creative, Retail Brand Experience (VM), Retail Operations, and Product teams to ensure our solutions meet business requirements.

The Packaging Designer is responsible for

  • Develop packaging design concepts that meet the creative brief and strategy
  • Applying a Design Thinking approach to create user-centric solutions
  • Create beautiful and compelling design presentations for review by stakeholders
  • Understand the retail environment, visual merchandising, and shopper behaviour in order to create viable packaging that is aesthetically appropriate and functionally sound
  • Present design work to internal teams such as Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, and other Brand and Retail partners for alignment
  • Intake feedback and be willing and able to discuss openly with partners in order to reach consensus and reinforce a sense of partnership while upholding design integrity
  • Deliver final assets to Packaging Developers and Production Designers, and work closely to prototype for stakeholder reviews and then finalize for bulk production
  • Be proficient in working with a variety of packaging mediums such as hangtags, labels, structural and other forms as needed in order to be able to develop the appropriate type of packaging for the product
  • Understand the technical complexities of large-scale, high volume print production and can design packaging accordingly


Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Graphic/Communication/Industrial Design
  • Minimum five years of design experience
  • Agency or Retail brand experience highly preferred
  • Understanding of retail environment (shopper behavior, visual merchandising)
  • Mastery of Adobe Suite (In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proficiency with creating high quality renderings ; proficiency with 3D software an asset
  • Ability to multi-task and manage various projects simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of packaging technical terminology and familiarity of retail terminology an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to present to peers and leaders. Ability to articulate point of view and decisions about deliverables and projects

Compensation and Benefits Package 
lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $ 81,500 - 107,000annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program , subject to program eligibility requirements.
