about this team

The Indirect Tax team is responsible for managing indirect tax collected and paid throughout lululemon’s global operations, including VAT, GST and other transaction taxes.  We mitigate risks and ensure compliance with the local regulations.  We also provide strategic planning and operational guidance to the business to support various growth Initiatives.  We understand our technology ecosystem to enable a deep understanding of how financial Information and processes are captured as it relates to indirect taxes.


core responsibilities

You’ll play an integral part in the Indirect Tax North American compliance team ensuring regular compliance is met with filings and business operations.

  • Prepare North American GST/HST and SUT returns and coordinate remittance payments
  • Maintain and verify proper registration, ensure filings and payments are submitted timely
  • Reconcile sales tax general ledger accounts
  • Support with month end journal entries impacting tax GL accounts
  • Support with YE SOX compliance documents and walk throughs
  • Collaborate with accounting team members to ensure departmental deadlines are met and objectives are achieved
  • Prepare sales tax rate set up and registration for new store locations
  • Action sales tax exemption requests for Strategic Sale Partnerships by onboarding new exempt partners and monitor old certificates expiring that require renewal
  • Support the Tax Analysts with sales and use tax audits in North America


qualifications

  • Education in accounting required. Preference will be given to candidates with, or pursuing, a professional accounting designation
  • Experience with 2 years of indirect tax returns and tax compliance is an asset
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Proven team player but must also have the ability to work independently and deliver results
  • Comfortable with rapid growth, changing environments and increasing workload
  • Dedication to continuous improvement both professionally and personally
  • Responsible and dependable, proactive and solution oriented
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Strong research, problem solving and decision‐making skills
  • Strong computer and database/spreadsheet skills are required; experience with an MRP/ERP system and Oracle is an asset
  • Experience with Vertex sales tax software is an asset

compensation and benefits package 

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $59,800–$78,500annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
