about this team

The Senior Raw Materials Developer is a technical leader driving both seasonal and long-term fabric innovation through cross-functional collaboration. Leveraging deep expertise in textile performance and material innovation, they approach development with curiosity and critical thinking to advance raw material solutions, always focused on delivering the best experience for lululemon’s core guest.


core responsibilities

  • Create and launch fabrics that meet technical and quality requirements across product categories, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction while supporting lululemon’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Product Development, and Merchandising teams to align on fabric specifications, innovation goals, and supplier capabilities, delivering superior raw materials.
  • Offer expert advice on material choices, production timelines, and risk management throughout critical go-to-market milestones.
  • Stay well-informed on mill capabilities, market shifts, and industry trends to identify and lead new fabric innovation opportunities.
  • Forecast material trends, emerging technologies, and supplier advancements to guide both seasonal and long-term raw material planning.
  • Advocate for sustainability by embedding preferred, circular, and low-impact materials into long-term development strategies.
  • Promote teamwork and mentor Raw Materials Developers, nurturing technical expertise and professional growth within the team.

 

qualifications

  • Over 7 years of experience in the textile industry, specializing in fabric material innovation and product commercialization.
  • Demonstrated history of working closely with global mills and suppliers, including hands-on experience through travel to manufacturing sites.
  • In-depth knowledge of textile manufacturing processes such as fiber processing, yarn formation, fabric construction, dyeing, and finishing techniques.
  • Skilled in fabric development methods, equipment use, and testing protocols, with a solid grasp of industry standards and the ability to interpret test results accurately.
  • Proven ability to manage development schedules, key milestones, and risk mitigation in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Adept at diagnosing raw material challenges and delivering innovative, practical solutions that balance product performance, sustainability goals, and cost efficiency.
  • Familiar with sustainable and circular materials, including an understanding of certifications, traceability, and environmental impact factors.
  • Experience using digital platforms and tools for material development, tracking, and data management.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and influencing skills, thriving in dynamic, matrixed environments.
  • Dedicated to continuous learning and fostering growth through mentorship within the materials function.

compensation and benefits package 

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $119,200 - $156,500annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
